Inspiration behind APEXE
When we first started trading Kenyan coffee in the global market, we observed a significant trend: many international buyers, including traders and roasters, were sourcing their beans from washing stations in Kenya rather than directly from the farmers. This practice, where cherries from various farms are amalgamated at the washing stations, compromised the coffee's quality. Consequently, it led to:
1. Reduced cup quality, influencing the market price negatively.
2. Diminished earnings for the farmers.
3. Loss of traceability to individual farms and farmers, erasing their unique stories.
4. Inconsistency in the coffee's quality.
